虽然毛泽东逝世近33年了，但是这位共产党中国的缔造者似乎仍然活在许多中国人的心中。

　　在中华人民共和国成立60周年前夕，同时也是在全球金融危机肆虐之时，对这位已故国家主席的新一轮怀念席卷全国。虽然他被批评犯下“严重错误”，比如文化大革命，但是对于这位从中华人民共和国建立直到1976年逝世一直领导中国的领袖，人们的怀念之情急剧上升。

　　在今年的清明节，上万名参观者涌到毛的故乡湖南韶山，向其表示敬意。据香港《大公报》说，单是在4月2日一天，就有至少3万人从全国各地到韶山参观。

　　还有一个现象表明人们对毛越来越怀念。据法国24新闻频道报道，他的小红书(《毛主席语录》)在中国的大学生中重新流行起来。北京大学附近一家新左派书店的老板说：“我们目前卖出的小红书数量是金融危机前的5倍。”他说，自去年年底经济下滑以来，每月能卖出200本小红书。

　　中国人还越来越像崇拜神一样崇拜这位已故国家主席。不管出于什么原因，把毛当做神一样崇拜只是对毛日益怀念的副产品。虽然中国人眼下的生活可能普遍更好，但是和在毛统治之下相比，他们的安全感要低得多。

　　一位退休的北京官员说：“在毛泽东时代，我每月的工资不到100块钱。我每月存不下钱，但是我什么都不担心。虽然没有奢侈品，但是我的工作单位包揽了一切：住房、医疗、退休、孩子的教育。如果我遇到困难，我随时可以找单位帮忙。如今，我每月的退休金有3000块，但是我必须算计着花每一分钱----东西都那么贵，而且假如我现在病了，谁也不会管我。”

　　中国如今要面对一些在毛统治时期不那么普遍，或者说不那么为人所知的社会弊端，比如官员腐败蔓延、贫富差距日益拉大，吸毒和卖淫之类的犯罪行为日益增多。这是人们怀念毛时代的另一个原因。

　　显然对中国共产党领导人来说，毛仍然是一个传奇。因此，公众对毛的怀念有助于证明共产党统治国家的合理性。毛泽东思想仍然得到共产党的拥护。从这一意义上说，怀念情绪还能以某种方式帮肋填补改革开放留下的意识形态真空。

Let's take a look at what 毛泽东 did before he die:

1. Put Deng into power, who is very capable leader and strong supports market economy.
2. Built normal relationship with US.

毛在中国历史上的评价早已是3：7开了，那就是功：过。 如果说毛还在人民的心中，一点不假。不过是因为他的过的话，那也不假。可以说没有毛，就没有中国灰色的几十年；没有毛，中国的今天的繁荣就会早出现几十年。历史是自己在谱写，历史更是由人民来执笔，，，，。他的乌托邦似的理想，把中国的文明与现代化，整整推迟了几十年，直至他生命的终结。历史是最公正的，历史也是最残酷的。它想一面镜子，你做了什么，镜子将准确无误地反射在镜子里，，，，。

毛泽东个人崇拜,叫人民高呼万岁,万万岁.自封为皇!杀忠良,焚书坑儒,搞文革,杀人无数!害中国后退50年,暴君一个!!!

Without Mao, we will be all speaking Japanese.   I guess that is what you want.  How can you be so sure what will happen in the past if one historical factor changes.

Mao was only a victim of old and corruptive Chinese culture.  He was destroyed by people around him.  

If we want to change, start from each single individual Chinese - build sense of citizenship, behave in civilized manner, be independent thinker, and stand up for rightousness.  If you think about it, Mao had them all.  He was a great leader, but had his limit.

Kim Jong iL did not earn his leadership, he inherited.  Mao fought for it, with his life.  That is a huge difference.  That's why people admire Mao, not someone like Kim.

What ever he did,No excuse!He's a killer.

So was Deng.  In Chinese history, which leader (emperor) did not?  You don't expect him to behave like an American president? do you?  We can expect you to make the change, maybe.  It is not easy to unite all Chinese.  We are a difficult people.

What?  Fighting Japanese is Chinese and American?  Isn't Mao Chinese?

To be precise, it was KMD's army that fought the Japs, and US's atomic bomb that threw the Japs out of China.  
Mao had absolutely nothing to do with it.  Look up your history books.  

Most people talk in here with themself feeling not on histrory. Deng make economic deleloped but sociaty not comapre with Mao time. Some people say China back 50 years that mean China almost no industry that is true? Mao make new China but he almost mad after his son die.

Mao's time did have this or that problems, but the following is the basic fact for  basically every working family in urban areas that none can deny if  he/she has some respect for the history.
Of course I don't view all of these is due to him, same as I don't accuse him for all troubles.
The nation at that time was in high security concern that  was immensely much worse than US after 911. Look at what US did after 911, you can understand why China was very harsh for all security concern.
